More than 30 wineries call the area in and around Fredericksburg, Texas home.  Texas wines have come a long way in the last several years; you can visit wineries with more international medals than the most decorated olympian.  During your travels, you’re sure to find that special winery, varietal, or vintage  – and when you do – take home a bottle or two to share with others, as you remember and recount your Hill Country vacation.

Luckenbach Post Office ColorLuckenbach, Texas
Luckenbach Texas, where “Everybody’s Somebody”, was established as a trading post in 1849. Made famous by Waylon Jennings & Willie Nelson in the song Luckenbach Texas, the town is a popular destination for those seeking the Texas State of Mind. Consisting of a general store, bar, and dance hall, Luckenbach is a great place to kick back, relax, and catch live music each day under the 500 year old Live Oaks

The massive pink granite dome rising above Central Texas has drawn people for thousands of years. But there’s more at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area than just the dome. You can hike, backpack, camp, rock climb, picnic, birdwatch, study nature, geocache, and stargaze.  The scenery, rock formations, and legends are magical – bring a camera to capture your special image!

KayakingKerrville-Schreiner State Park
Kerrville-Schreiner Park is a 517-acre park with frontage on the Guadalupe River. Over 7.5 miles of hiking trails snake across the hilly, juniper-studded landscape.

A combined State and Federal park of 1,570 acres located just 15 minutes east of Fredericksburg.  The park features LBJ’s “Texas Whitehouse,” the Sauer-Beckmann Farmstead, and the official Texas longhorn herd.  Open 7-day a week. Hours: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.  Free.

If mountain biking is your forte, then there are mountain biking trails close to Fredericksburg.



Flat Rock RanchFlat Rock Ranch – Mountain Biking
Eighteen miles of difficult mountain biking trail approximately 30 minutes SE of Fredericksburg, near Comfort, TX.  Nicknamed “Miles of DisComfort,” this course is not for beginners.  Open sunrise to sunset – 7-days a week.
